44205+442++ NL51 Newee Ck 13-04-89
Special passenger train Sydney to Roma St (Leon Batman)

Bryan Vanderstelt:

I remember that day Leon. Was it not some kind of charter for Pacific islanders going to some convention somewhere? It was a real treat soon after NL1/2 and NL3/4 getting the chop. A real "one off"!

Leon Batman:

Bryan Vanderstelt Sounds about right

Dane Graham:

NL1-4 finished in February 1990.

Bryan Vanderstelt:

Dane Graham I'll go out on a limb and say Leon's date is wrong. Pretty damn sure it was 1990 after loco the Brisbane Limited and Pacific Coast Motorail wound up.

*Extracted from NSW Government Railways Weekly Notices, 1923–1975.*
*Note: The interlocking at Newee Creek was brought into use 17 days after the station opened (3 December → 20 December 1923) — a pattern similar to other stations on this extension where the physical opening preceded the formal commissioning of interlocking. Frames A and B with Staff Drawer Locks (Regulation E) were the standard arrangement for intermediate unattended stations on the Macksville–Urunga section. The two-day goods siding abolition (3–4 February 1975) is one of the few two-day works documented for a small unattended siding — the gradients or trackwork complexity at 348m evidently required two days to complete.*
