Notes : Salisbury was a freight facility on the Queensland Railways network, with a NSW standard gauge connection provided from 1 June 1964 to the Cargo Distributors Siding on the Up side of the QR lines. The NSW main line connection was controlled by Frame B (worked from No. 2 lever) with Releasing Switch B electrically released by No. 12 lever in the QR Salisbury Signal-box — an unusual arrangement where a Queensland Railways signal-box controlled the release of NSW rolling stock. Later tenants included TNT Contrans (Salisbury). The narrow gauge (3ft 6in) QR line from Salisbury to the GMH plant at Acacia Ridge crossed the NSW 4ft 8½in gauge connections at two points (1966). The Cargo Distributors Siding was also referred to as "Salisbury Siding" in operational notices from 1971 onwards.

---

> **Notes:** Salisbury was not a NSW station but a freight facility on the Queensland Railways network, with a NSW standard gauge connection provided from 1 June 1964 to the Cargo Distributors Siding on the Up side of the QR lines.

## 1964 — NSW Connection to Cargo Distributors Siding Opened — 1 June 1964

### Connection Opened — W.N. 22–1964
> **Salisbury, Queensland (Border Loop–South Brisbane) — Provision of connection, N.S.W. Line to Cargo Distributors Siding** — On **Monday, 1st June, 1964**, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., a connection will be provided between the N.S.W. Main line and **Cargo Distributors Siding**, located on the **Up side of the Queensland lines**. The Main line points will be at mileage **606m 41c**, approximately 170 feet on the Brisbane side of the Beaudesert Road Down Distant signal.
>
> The points in the Main line (facing to NSW Up trains) and the catchpoints in the Cargo Distributors Siding will be worked from **No. 2 lever in a new Frame B** situated on the Down side of the Main line adjacent to the points.
>
> No. 1 lever in Frame B (facing point lock for No. 2 Frame B facing points), will be fitted with a **duplex Annett lock** and will be unlocked by key from **Releasing Switch B** and by key on the miniature electric train staff for the section **Greenbank–Beaudesert Road**.
>
> **Releasing Switch B** will be located adjacent to Frame B and will be released electrically by **No. 12 lever in new Salisbury Signal-box**, which will be brought into use by the **Queensland Railways**.
>
> A mechanical signal, Cargo Distributors Siding to NSW Main line, will be provided at No. 2 Frame B catchpoints — worked from **No. 3 lever in Frame B**.
>
> **Telephone** — A telephone connecting with Salisbury Signal-box will be provided on the post of Releasing Switch B. *(W.N. 22–1964.)*

> **Note:** The arrangement whereby Releasing Switch B at a NSW siding connection was released by a lever in a Queensland Railways signal-box (No. 12 lever in Salisbury Signal-box) is unique in the collection. This reflects the practical reality that the siding physically sat within the QR yard complex and required QR signalling authority before a NSW train could enter.

*Extracted from NSW Government Railways Weekly Notices, 1964–1986.*
*Note: Salisbury was a Queensland Railways freight complex with a NSW standard gauge connection. The unique arrangement of a QR signal-box (Salisbury) controlling the release of NSW siding points (via No. 12 lever releasing Switch B) is the most distinctive operational feature of this location in the Weekly Notices.*
