Notes : Opened with a 76.2 metre long timber platform. 28/6/1944 central interlocked 438 metre loop added. 1945 PBK type cottage for railway staff added. 1954 5 tonne gantry crane from Grafton transferred to site. 10/4/1963 closed as a crossing and train station. 13/9/66 platform truncated to 25.9 metres. 17/5/1984 residence demolished. Whether or not a signal box was placed here with the opening of the line from Dungog to Taree is
uncertain. It is known that an 8 lever interlocking machine was provided to operate signals and release keys for ground frames. The drawing does not indicate if the levers were covered but the opening of the line circular shows that they were. The interlocking machine and signals were removed in 1914 when Electric Staff was introduced and such protection methods, designed for staff and ticket working, became redundant. If a signal box had been provided it could have been removed at that time. In 1944 a Signal box was brought into use when Nooroo was opened as a fully interlocked wartime crossing loop and Electric Staff station. The signal box, Electric Staff and loop were closed on January 1949 and then reopened as a switch out type Electric Staff station on 15 December 1949. The use of switching out facilities at staff stations or individual shifts on a daily basis was rare in NSW. Nooroo was generally opened on the night shift for the crossing of passenger trains.
The signal box and loop were closed when signalling was being rationalised.
