The signalman hand exchanging the staff with the driver of the classic Alco 44 class cab unit. The signalman was standing on the staff exchanging platform provided at single line staff stations if the signal box was not on a passenger platform. RT Taaffe

Lunch time and no trains were about. The track crew were using the platform coping as a convenient seat in front of the Type F signal box. Although there was a considerable gap between the station building and the signal box no window was placed in this end wall. RT Taaffe

A Type P signal box was one of those constructed as part of the war effort of World War Two. Someone must have thought that the nameboard was better on the small sleeper platform than on the front of the signal box. RT Taaffe

It is believed that no covering of Frame A was provided when the line was opened in 1911. The arrangement was peculiar to say the least with main line signals including Starting signals operated from Frame A while Starting signals for the loop line were operated from adjacent ground frames.

Unlike similar installations elsewhere, no Home signals were provided for access to the loop. A signal box was provided when a larger interlocking machine was brought into use as part of the conversion of the loop to central operation.

When the points and signals were converted to power operation as part of the CTC project, the interlocking machine and signal box was taken out of use and control transferred to an OCS panel located in the Station Master's office.

A longer than necessary Type P signal box. Interestingly, in lieu of continuous weatherboards below the sill on the front wall, only three battens were attached. RT Taaffe

Signal box opened when Mindaribba was brought into use as an Electric Staff and crossing station to
divide the section Telarah to Paterson. With pre CTC phase brought into use in March 1982, the interlocking machine was replaced by an One Control Switch (OCS) type relay interlocking panel. The panel was initially located in the signal box, but when remote control (CTC) was transferred to Broadmeadow the panel was designated an emergency panel and transferred to the Traffic Room in the Relay building.

A standard Type K signal box constructed on the end of the platform as a result of which there was no nameboard applied to the building. The tripod shaped device in the front of the signal box was the wash basin stand. RT Taaffe
