Name meaning : Aboriginal word for "dove"
Notes: Platform was located on the Up side of the line at mileage 232-60 chains (km. 374.578). Platform was a standard medium length one for the North Coast line, 250 feet. The opening of the line circular showed the interlocking machine as being covered. There is no evidence to confirm this claim. If a building had been provided it would have been removed when the signals and interlocking machine were dispensed with, in conjunction with the installation of Electric Staff working. Kolodong opened 4 February 1913 with the standard Dungog–Taree line arrangement — Frame A on the platform (grouped with Nooroo, Ward's River and Bulliac — a different group from Stratford, Bundook and Somerset); Frames B and C for the Goods Siding unlocked by No. 5 Lever Frame A; Fixed Signals "All Right." Green disc required for passenger pick-up. Station brand KLD. The station was deleted from publications in W.N. 30, 32, 33 and 48–1967 — multiple publications requiring Kolodong to be deleted across four separate Weekly Notices in the same year (platform abolished per W.N. 30–1967; Stations, Platforms and Sidings book per W.N. 30–1967; Merchandise and Livestock Rates Book per W.N. 32–1967; Public Timetable per W.N. 33–1967; Alphabetical List per W.N. 48–1967). Station closed **12 August 1967**.

22 December 1986 saw 4428 still looking reasonably fresh in candy hauling milk and some flat wagons from Taree.  The location for this shot was Kolodong, just south of Taree. (Chris Harrison)

A view from NT-25, "Grafton XPT" approaching the site of former railway platform Kolodong which was immediately on the far side of the private level crossing. Over the years there had been a few near misses and a collision between trains and road vehicles at the crossing, partly due to the blind approach of trains on the Down side and blind stupidity of road users. In September 2012 this crossing and a number of others in close proximity were closed and one common crossing for all was created at a more suitable location. Photo date, 6-1-1997. (Graeme Kirkby)
