The photo would be between July 1954 when the Byron Bay whaling operation commenced - https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/225814911 - and 1963 when tramcar C37 was relocated to Sydney - https://www.sydneytramwaymuseum.com.au/.../155-Trolley.... Noting that only tramcar C37 is in the above photo (tramcar 74B having been transported to Sydney in late 1957), it is likely the photo is after than date. I suspect the photo is from 4 November 1961 when there was an SPER tour of the Byron Bay tramway.

The lever working this signal is fixed on the platform at the southern end of the station building.

> Since **Tuesday, 16th February, 1915**, the existing Duplex Locking arrangements on the connection between the Main Line and the **Byron Bay end of the Weighbridge Siding** will be removed, and the points in the Main Line, Facing Point Lock, and the Catch-points in the Siding will be coupled to a two-lever Frame situated near the Main Line Points, and must be operated in accordance with Regulation D on page 27 of the General Appendix.

> **Byron Bay (North Coast) — Provision of New Jetty for Department of Navigation** — Since **25th March, 1929**, the Jetty previously in use at Byron Bay has been dispensed with, and a new Jetty situated **1 mile 5 chains 22 feet on the Murwillumbah side of Byron Bay Station** is in use.

> - No engine, except the **North Coast Steam Navigation Company's Private Locomotive**, is permitted to run on the line to the Jetty beyond the Stop Board.

> - All traffic between Byron Bay and the new Jetty must be **hauled only by an engine belonging to the North Coast Steam Navigation Company**.

> (3) The connections between the Main line and Goods Siding and between the Main line and Loop line at the Grafton end of the station coupled to Nos. 3 and 2 Levers respectively in a new Frame "H."

The Station Master, Byron Bay, must arrange for a Red light to be exhibited in each direction on this Stop Board during dark.
