Name meaning : First named Sorell Plains by Governor Lachlan Macquarie in 1821 but changed later by Governor Sorell (who it had been named after).
Notes : Location held a crossing loop of 883' feet, a goods loop of 1,737', goods shed, stock pens and a platform with station shelter. Location had watering facilities (tank still stands) and loco servicing facilities. Briefly known as Bushy park in 1959.

700327F Macquarie Plains (Tas.) ARHS tour returning from Maydena, M3. Roderick Smith. This watering stop was close to half way between Florentine and Hobart, and was close beside Derwent River for its supply. The tank is still there.
