Name meaning : Named in honour of Sir John Hayes who was an early explorer in the area.
Notes : 416' crossing loop with a dead end siding, a skeleton platform existed on the dead end along with a cattle and sheep race. Loop siding held a goods shed. A small station building was on the main line. Remains of platform are still visible along with the footings of the goods shed and the loop siding. Renamed from Hamilton Road to Hayes in 1898.
