Name meaning : Said to be named after a landholder's (R B Dawson) property. There are several locations in England that use the name and there it means "a clearing overgrown with bent-grass".
Notes : 75.5m platform on the Down side as built, later reduced to 31.6m (1966). Yards had sheep and cattle races and a 5 tonne crane and an Up side (originally Down) loop siding. Original layout had a Down side loop siding with the station some 70 metres Down from the siding. 19/9/1913 - Down loop siding removed and replaced with an Up loop ~800 yards to the north. 1939 - crane removed to Wiangaree. 1947 - telephone installed (No. 85 Telephone Circuit, North). October 1973 (passenger service ceased), February 1974 (station particulars deleted). 2nd June 1975 - abolition of the goods siding.
