Parattah, in the Tasmanian Midlands, was an important stop on the Tasman Limited service. The railway town was established in 1879 following construction of the Tasmanian Main Line Railway through the region. A short branch line was built to Oatlands in 1885. The large Tudor-style hotel was built in the 1880s for the refreshment of passengers on the Express services between Hobart and Launceston. With the advent of buffet cars on passenger services business slowed but it remained a licenced hotel until after passenger trains stopped in 1978. The Wynyard-bound Tasman Ltd passed here at about 1130 (1978 timetable) whilst the south-bound train arrived at about 3.55pm (1978 timetable).

An early morning rainbow greeted passengers on the Sydney bound XPT (NT32) as they passed through Glenapp Qld.

The road ahead
The fog 🌫 is starting to lift as 6BY4 approaches Kempsey 30-14 signal which is the start of the Kempsey to Kundabung section.
The infamous Middleton Street level crossing approach road was located behind the now demolished bitumen storage tank with the house on the far left also long demolished.
The disused dual Fuel & Bitumen (Caltex & Shell) siding is yet to be removed.
